Zarzis, just half an hour driving from Djerba and close to the Libian border, seems like a very typical Tunisian town. The landscape outside the village is best described as a dry and rocky desert. But there are many interesting things to discover. Like the Berber villages, lots of similar looking shelters that used to be occupied by the locals. Some of them have been a Hollywood film set for Georges Lucas’ Star Wars. The locals are still very proud of that, even if it’s been over 45 years since the first film was shot. I wonder if the youngsters in Zarzis have even seen the movie.
